100 Years at the Jerome Park Reservoir: A Photographic Essay

100 Years at the Jerome Park Reservoir: Photographic Essay, an exhibition of approximately fifty-black-and-white prints by John Bartelstone, Robert Kornfeld, Jr., and Sandra Sider, presents the scenic beauty and architectural marvel of the Jerome Park Reservoir and two other majors landmarks of the Croton Water System: High Bridge and the New Croton Dam. The Jerome Park Reservoir in the Bronx, a city lake with a two-mile circumferences, is currently threatened by the possibility of a 30-acre filtration plant in its south end. The proposed filtration plant is the focus of protests by community leaders, environmentalists, and preservation advocates. These photographs eloquently document a community treasure that may be lost. 100 Years at the Jerome Park Reservoir: A Photographic Essay provides a preview of the exhibition Walking the Waterway: Scenes Along the Old Croton Aqueduct Trailway, co-sponsored by the Jerome Park Conservancy and the Parks Council, which can be seen at the Urban Center from September 14 through October 17. Both exhibitions are partially funded by the Nate B. and Frances Spingold Foundation.

Jerome Park: A Neighborhood at Risk, a companion exhibition of color photographs by Bronx artist Sandra Sider, will be on view at the Lehman College Library from July 10 through October 10. This exhibition celebrates the Jerome Park Reservoir and its unique surroundings.
